The selected firm will be capable of the following: • Safe Systems Plan Development: Consultant to create a tailored Safe Systems Traffic Safety Plan and Vision Zero for South Salt Lake, including evidence-based strategies for reducing traffic fatalities. • Policy Creation: Develop a traffic safety policy based on the Safe Systems Approach to respond to incidents, citizen complaints, and new developments. • Temporary Demonstration Projects: Design of temporary traffic safety measures to test the proposed Safe Systems plan, inform updates, and collect data. • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze traffic safety data from demonstration projects to gauge effectiveness and guide future updates. • Community Engagement: Involve local stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and agencies, in the process to ensure the plan addresses the community’s needs. • Safety Impact Assessment: Evaluate the safety of current road conditions, with particular attention to high-fatality areas and population density increases. • Equity Consideration: Ensure that the plan prioritizes safety measures for disadvantaged communities, considering South Salt Lake's high percentage of low-income and diverse residents. • Coordination with Agencies: Collaborate with the Wasatch Front Regional Council (WFRC), Utah DOT, Utah Transit Authority, and local emergency services (police, fire, paramedics) to align the project with regional and state transportation goals.
