This project is located on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Private lands on the west side of the Tintic Mountain Range in Tooele County, Utah. Elevations range from approximately 5,200 to 5,900 feet. A vicinity map is attached showing the site, as well as proposed aerial seeding treatment map. Nearest Airport: The nearest airport is Tooele Valley Airport (TVY), in Erda, UT, which is approximately 40 air miles to the northwest. Acreage/ Rate: Approximately 690 acres will be seeded in the primary seeding. The mix, consisting of grasses and forbs, will be applied at a rate of approximately 11.49 lbs. per acre on BLM lands. The aircraft used must be capable of seeding at these rates. This contract will also include the secondary seeding of 400 acres of just sagebrush, cracked corn, and winterfat. This will need to be flown on after the primary seeding. The sagebrush mix will be flown on at a rate of 4.5 bulk lbs/acre. Total Acreage= 1,090 acres GPS Technology: The aircraft must be equipped with a global positioning system that is used to establish flight lines for 100% coverage. Total Weight: Primary Seeding Approximately 7,925 lbs. and Secondary Seeding Approximately 1,800 lbs. Seeding Dates: January 20- February 7, 2025. The Government will coordinate start date(s) for each project area. Timing: The contractor will be expected to begin seeding by 8:00 a.m. to avoid windy conditions and minimize seed drift. The Government reserves the right to postpone the seeding operation if wind speed exceeds 10 miles per hour. DWR Assistance: Seed will need to be picked up from the Great Basin Research Center in Ephraim, UT. Seed will be pre-mixed and supplied in 1,200 lb. tote bags. The contractor will be responsible for providing necessary equipment and personnel to unload and load seed.
