Implement a community engagement process to enroll low-income, minority students for participation in a healthcare workforce development program. Implement one session of a twelve (12) week healthcare workforce development program, and one session of an abbreviated six (6) week development program. Sessions should cover, at a minimum, roles and responsibilities in healthcare, effective communication, cultural competency, healthcare policies and regulations, and innovations in healthcare. Enroll up to twenty-five (25) students per session. Scope of educational programs should include the following topics or themes to prepare participants for healthcare related employment opportunities: General information on the landscape of healthcare. Different roles and responsibilities in the field of healthcare. Maintaining a personal mental health as a healthcare workforce member. Providing patient care and serving diverse populations. Healthcare regulations. Maintaining relevant certifications & credentials. Job readiness preparation such as resume writing or interview skills. Technology literacy components. Basic life skills certifications such as first aid and CPR. Mental Health First Aid certification. REVIVE! Training Community Health Worker education supportive of Virginia Health Professions Certified Community Health Worker requirement. Contract Agency Requirements: To apply for funding, the contractor must meet the following requirements: Primarily serve low-income, minority population residing in the Chesterfield Health District (to include Chesterfield County, Colonial Heights City, and Powhatan County). Deliver a curriculum that touches on the following: roles and responsibilities in healthcare, effective communication, cultural competency, healthcare policies and regulations, and innovations in healthcare. Facilitate pre and post program literacy and ESL reading evaluations. Incorporate technological training, and provide all technological supplies required for the successful completion of the course. Incorporate personal skills and interest inventories and goal-setting activities. Have working relationships with and knowledge of community resources that are aimed to improve social determinants of health. Deliver minimum of two (2) curriculum sessions in LHD identified neighborhood to bridge relationships and trust. The Department Responsibilities: Conduct all activities to ensure the enrollment of as many as twenty-five (25) students per session. Implement one session of a twelve (12) week healthcare workforce development program, and one (1) session of an abbreviated six (6) week development program. Maintain regular communications with the Department, other contractors, and community members to provide project status reports as requested. Work with the Department, other contractors, and community members to facilitate additional enrichment opportunities for students. Report on participants' educational outcomes within thirty (30) days of each session’s last day. Deliver a minimum of two (2) curriculum sessions in LHD identified space that intentionally increases for identified participant demographics.
