The Johnson County Library (the Library or JCL) is looking to purchase two (2x) Palo Alto firewalls (or equivalent), including relevant licensing and hardware, and professional services for initial implementation to replace its current core firewallsthrough the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) E-Rate Program. These firewalls will handle security filtering between the Library’s internal networks as well as the Library’s internet connection. This solution should be right-sized for the current environment and able to handle expected growth over lifetime of the solution. The proposed solution should be able to handle the Library’s throughput needs, for all of its networks, internal and external, for the next 5 years (with threat prevention/IPS enabled). Vendors should work with the Library through the proposal process to determine solutions appropriate for the estimated throughput. The Library’s initial estimate for this requirement is between 8 and 10 Gbps. The hardware, licenses, and professional service proposal shall include at a minimum: • The firewalls shall be able to run in a High Availability pair either active/active or active/standby • The firewalls shall each have redundant power supplies • The firewalls shall each have a minimum of 4x SFP+ 10Gbps-cable interfaces, preferably 8x • The firewalls shall support and be licensed for threat prevention/IPS, application detection, URL and DNS filtering, Malware filtering, and TLS decryption • The firewalls shall be able to be managed on-premises via a graphical interface • The firewall management console/portal shall offer customizable views of all logging activity and historical logs, preferred integration with Elasticsearch log ingestion • Vendor warranty and options for ongoing support on a yearly basis, with optional one-year renewals • Professional services for initial implementation and product walkthrough • Access to product documentation and product knowledgebase access
