OSU is seeking proposals from general contractors to act as Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) for the Construction of a new Dining Support Facility at an offcampus location that will provide a commissary kitchen and consolidated bakery operation for University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS). Oregon State University recently completed a comprehensive exercise to develop a vision to establish a decision-making framework to guide the future 10-year planning effort for advancing the student experience in its housing and dining programs. Brailsford & Dunlavey, Inc. partnered with Mahlum Architects and PAE Engineers to form the project team that collaborated with campus stakeholders including University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS) to produce the Corvallis Campus Housing and Dining Vision. The Vision outlines a plan to modernize inventory, diversify housing options, enhance community and grow housing inventory. To support the expansion of campus dining and catering UHDS has purchased an approximately 1.4- acre site that formerly was an industrial food production facility located within a 10-minute drive from most places on campus. The vision for this site is to develop an offsite commissary kitchen, catering operation, and to consolidate UHDS centralized bakery operations on this site to increase the efficiency of on-campus dining locations and to ensure consistent and high-quality cuisine. It is anticipated that the facility will be approximately 20,000 to 30,000 square feet and support 35 FTE. The construction cost is anticipated to be $13 million. It is OSU’s intent to have the facility come online in the spring of 2027 in advance of UHDS bringing new residence hall and dining buildings online.
