GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES TO BE PERFORMED 1.1 Liquid sludge, a mixture of primary and waste activated sludge and grease, will be collected from the WPCF Sludge Storage tanks and transported in trailers provided by the Contractor for delivery to nearest appropriated permitted disposal site. Normal work hours shall be Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 2:30 PM, unless other arrangements are made. The Contractor (hauler) shall be responsible for scheduling deliveries with the disposal facility. The Contractor shall maintain appropriate approvals with the disposal facility for acceptance of the Town’s liquid sludge. The Contractor will bill the Town for both the transportation and disposal services. The hauler shall provide a copy of the disposal ticket to the Town. Transportation costs will be based on the nearest permitted facility to 1 Vibert Road, South Windsor unless the facility is not accepting sludge for operational maintenance. 1.2 Laboratory sludge test results are included within Appendix A attached hereto. 1.3 Bidders are required to submit two (2) alternative disposal sites. 1.4 The Bid Proposal form included with these bid documents provides for a price schedule for each gallon of wastewater transported and dry tons of solids disposed of. 1.5 It is the Town’s intention to enter into a one (1) year contract with an option of four (4) consecutive one year extensions. 1.6 The Contract will be awarded based upon the most cost effective one (1) year proposal to the Town.
