The existing BSL-2 EDS is outdated and doesn’t meet the needs of the current research. The existing BSL-3 EDS works well but does not have any redundancies. If the BSL-3 EDS is not working, the entire system must be shut down until maintenance can be completed. This Project will provide an update and expansion of the existing Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) and Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) Effluent Decontamination Systems (EDS). Contractors will provide a new BSL2 collection and sterilization system interconnected to the existing BSL3 sterilizer to provide redundant sterilization for both systems, along with other minor upgrades as described in the construction documents. The Work will be coordinated with a scheduled 2025 BSL-3 shutdown. The proposed system will be reviewed/approved by Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) as well as University of Minnesota Building Code Department. Construction Documents will be issued via addendum prior to the scheduled Pre-Proposal Meeting. NV5 is the Architect/Engineer of Record for the Project.
