The City of Athens water distribution system includes approximately 673 fire hydrants for the purpose of supporting firefighting and water system maintenance efforts. The City is seeking a qualified contractor to provide hydrant maintenance services including, but not limited to, exercising fire hydrants, conducting function inspections, lubricating hydrants as recommended by the specific hydrant manufacturer, conducting minor hydrant repairs, and flow testing all 673 hydrants prior to September 30, 2025. The painting of all fire hydrants as described in more detail in the Special Project Provisions section shall be completed by July 31, 2025. In addition, the contractor shall immediately report non-working or irregularly operating fire hydrants and hydrant valves to the City. Non-working fire hydrants shall be evaluated for repair or replacement. Unrepairable hydrants shall be immediately reported to the City.
