Services to be provided: Design (architecture, structural, civil), as well as construction administration for the construction of the walking path. The project is located within the flood plain of the Sunflower River and is under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The selected firm will be responsible for processing the permit through the Corps of Engineers. The Project Sponsor will contract with a Hydrologic engineer to provide the hydrologic information required by the Corps and the “No-Rise Certificate” for local permitting. Project Components: The project will incorporate the existing west side asphalt path that starts at Soldier Field to the North and runs South to Cherry Street (shown on Concept plans). The design should extend the existing path south to the MLK bridge, cross the river to incorporate the MLK Art Meadow and tie to the existing ADA path, go north on the east side of the river to the old county jail site, where the path will incorporate a pedestrian bridge to cross back to the west side and connect to the existing asphalt path.
