A. Material isto be free of foreign plant material including weeds and other grasses. B. All certified weight tickets shall indicate Empty, Gross, and Net weights and be turned into the Division Roadside Environmental Engineer/Supervisor at the time of delivery. Any certified weight tickets, which are dated more than 7 days prior to delivery, shall not be accepted unless reweighed. C. Big rolls or round bales are not acceptable to fulfill this contract. D. Bales shall not be tied with wire. E. Only clean, dry straw will be accepted. Straw shall be tightly baled and must be 34” to 36” long as a minimum. The North Carolina Department of Transportation reserves the right to reject any bales that are substandard in length (less than 34-36 inches). F. Bales shall weigh between 40 lbs. and 60 lbs. Bales weighing outside these limits shall be rejected.
