The Town of Manchester accepts clean wood and yard wastes at the landfill / transfer station facility located at 311 Olcott Street. The Town is seeking a contractor to grind these materials currently stockpiled at the facility. Materials are accepted from both residents and commercial sources (i.e., contractors and landscapers). Leaves from local resident drop off are typically bagged. Accepted materials include: • Mixed yard wastes, including leaves and small brush - bagged and unbagged; • Land-clearing wood, including brush, limbs, and trunks; • Stumps and large logs requiring shearing; and • Clean wood, including pallets, spools, and clean (unfinished) lumber The Town has an immediate need for grinding approximately 6,000 cubic yards (CY) of mixed yard wastes. The Town may hire different contractor(s) to grind the various materials listed above. The selected contractor(s) will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, supplies, and other incidentals necessary to grind these materials. The Town is interested in proposals which provide the most cost-effective methods to manage these organic materials in an environmentally-responsible manner, including but not limited use as clean wood mulch or as a renewable energy fuel source.
