Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU; Owner) is requesting proposals from qualified Contractors to clean the 42” Grants Creek Interceptor, where required. Contractors must submit their qualifications with their proposal along with specific experience on large diameter sewers (considered sewers 36” and larger). Large diameter experience is a requirement for selection to perform this work. The 42” concrete sewer was installed in the early 1990s, is approximately 23,000 feet in length, and was designed on an average slope of 0.05%. The typical depth of the sewer ranges from 10 to 15 feet deep. A general location map of the 42” sewer is included in Exhibit C. As-builts of the sewer will be provided as requested. Flow levels in the 42” are typically 40% or less under normal flow conditions but may increase closer to the treatment plant. SRU has retained CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA; Engineer) to assist throughout this project. All communication and coordination will be through CHA unless directed otherwise. CHA will hold a kick-off meeting with the Contractor, provide the final maps to the Contractor prior to starting the work, answer questions that arise during the work, be onsite periodically during the work, review work performed by the Contractor, review and process all pay requests, and perform all other duties necessary to oversee the completion of this work. For this contract, SRU had a LIDAR inspection performed in late 2023 and now only wants to clean the sewers where specifically needed. Videos and Sediment reports from LIDAR are available via a link to Teams. Sewers shall be cleaned under flow for both “Light” or “Heavy” unless it is determined by the Engineer to bypass a section(s). Video will be used during bypass to ensure the pipe is clean.
