Oregon State University intends to contract for the provision of Trainings With Forest Machine Simulators from Melchor Logging as a sole source because of the contractor being the only provider able to meet critical parameters or timeframes to support the research and/or business needs of the university. OSU has training that requires experts in real machine operation and training using harvesting machine simulators. OSU is using the John Deere Simulator system and Melcher Logging has expertise in using John Deere logging equipment, and training using the John Deere Simulator system including machines and management software. The minimum specifications include experience in the following tasks: Commercial thinning using wheeled harvester and forwarder, full tree clear cut logging using a tracked shovel, loading log trucks with a tracked shovel, develop simulator training activities with the John Deere Terrain Editor, using the John Deere TimberMatic Maps and Timber Manager to manage forest machines, training new workers using forest machine simulators, have access to a wheeled harvester and forwarder (preferably John Deere to match the simulator systems)for field training activities.
