This RFP seeks the total cost for the schematic design, blueprints to construct, and materials (including structural materials and hardware) of a barn to be used by the Southington High School Agriscience Program. Based on inquiries with the industry, we approximate the barn design would be a 36’x60’ barn with a sloping roof design, containing overhanging eaves on both sides. The sliding breezeway doors should allow for a tractor to drive through the facility. Other general specifications the district would like included in the proposal is a heated bathroom for staff and students, a tack room, three 12’x12’stalls, and one 12’x24’ community stall. An add-alternate of a 12’x60’ center loft designated for storage may also be included. This addon would require a staircase and hayloft doors as part of its design. Douglas Fir posts with cedar siding is preferred to best handle the New England weather. Any deviation from this preference should be noted. Architectural Services and a Civil Engineering Firm have been previously contracted for their professional services to this project. The awarded vendor of this RFP will be expected to work in conjunction with these two firms to develop and finalize the project specifications to any current or future Connecticut education specifications. As part of this RFP, please include a rendering of the design, floor plan, and five sets of working blueprints. The response should also include exact specifications in order to compare them to other bidders. Any differences from the specifications suggested in the above paragraph should be identified in the RFP response. The proposal should also identify the items or features which are excluded from the proposal that are required for the completion of the facility. Construction labor should not be factored into the total cost.
