A. Annual Testing and Maintenance: All 16 of the fire hydrants listed in Article IV. Fire Hydrant Inventory List will be tested and inspected by the Contractor once per year, and shall include, but not be limited to: 1. Test all fire hydrants for proper function, and determine the flow rate in gallons per minute (GPM) for each hydrant. 2. Exercise isolation valves by opening and closing all hydrant valves. a. Water System Isolation Valves: i. The maintenance schedule for each valve being exercised will be developed by the Contractor, and approved by the City of Riverside Fire Chief Steve McKinster, or his designee. ii. The schedule with valve identifications, including the number of opening/closing turns for each, will be submitted to the CDE Contract Monitor, once complete. 3. Lightly oil and hand-tighten caps. 4. Operate and service gate valve. 5. Lubricate all stems. 6. Replace packing. 7. Ensure all hydrant markings, which includes the paint, match the designated flow rates in accordance with the City of Riverside requirements (see Attachment 1). If any hydrant does not meet the painting and marking requirements, it shall be painted. Should a hydrant need painting outside of the year 1 scheduled painting, it shall be charged as a repair. 8. Install and replace any missing or defective blue roadway reflective markers (see Attachment 2). B. Fire Hydrant Painting: 1. In Year 1 of the contract, all 16 of the fire hydrants listed in Article IV. Fire Hydrant Inventory List will be painted using Rust-oleum Industrial Metal Paint. The paint must be industrial grade, metal, oil-based enamel.
