All materials used in the manufacture of the blanks shall be new and be free from substances that may render their contents injurious to health or that may impair the flavor, odor, composition, or bacteriological quality of the contents. 3. The polyethylene coating shall be free of Calcium Carbonate, and paperboard used in manufacturing the blanks shall meet Federal Food & Drug Administration (FDA) requirements. 4. Blanks shall be made from clean, sanitary stock properly protected from contamination. 5. All blank processing materials such as lubricants, anti-friction compounds, etc. shall not contaminate the blank content with micro-organisms, and must be FDA approved. 6. While in the possession and control of the manufacturer, blanks shall be handled, wrapped, packaged, transported, and sorted in such a manner as to protect them from contamination. 7. Blanks shall be free from coliform bacteria. 8. Blanks shall not yield more than one bacteria colony per square centimeter. 9. When used for the packaging of milk or milk products as defined in the “Milk Ordinance & Code” recommended by the U.S. Public Health Service (Public Health Bulletin No. 20, 1953 Edition, as amended), blanks shall conform to the bacteriological standards specified in the code. 10. Blanks shall be protected from contamination by micro-organisms, dirt, grease, splashing water, refuse, food residues, or other forms of contamination.
