The City of Albany Utility is seeking qualified contractors to perform non-standard replacement of approximately 4,800 water meters throughout the water distribution system. This project aims to complete the transitioning to advanced metering infrastructure. The contract will be written for the lump sum total based on the unit price submitted. This lump sum total is only an estimate, and the contract will only be paid for the actual number of meters replaced. The scope includes the following key tasks and responsibilities: 1. Meter Replacement and Programming a. Meter Removal and Installation: The contractor will remove existing water meters and replace them with new city-supplied meters at each specified location. (Sensus SRii) b. Programming and Installation of SmartPoint: Each meter will be equipped with a SmartPoint device to enable remote reading. The contractor will program each SmartPoint device and install it securely to the meter box lid. (Sensus 520M SmartPoint Pit Mount) 2. Curb Stop and Coupling Adjustments a. Curb Stop Replacement: At sites where curb stops are broken, leaking, or require replacement, the contractor will remove the existing curb stop and replace it with a new citysupplied curb stop. (If the leak is on the Customers side the Contractor is to leave a City furnished door hanger on the Customers door). b. Outside-Coupling Adjustments: For meters with coupling or curb stops located outside the meter box, the contractor will adjust the box to properly house the fittings within the new or existing meter box to ensure uniformity, protection, and ease of access. 3. Meter Box Repair and Replacement a. Meter Box and Lid Replacement: In cases where meter boxes or lids are severely damaged or missing, the contractor will replace them with new city-supplied materials. b. SmartPoint Placement in Lid: Ensure the SmartPoint device is securely mounted in the lid of the meter box for easy signal transmission and protection from damage.
