The State of Connecticut, Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) is seeking bids for bundled campground firewood for re-sale at various State Parks. 7,250 BD Bundled Campground Firewood; Product Specifications: 1. Firewood cut in Connecticut must be from mixed hardwood tree species only and have been seasoned for at least one calendar year. Any wood cut outside of Connecticut must be heated to a core temperature of 71 degrees Celsius (160 degrees Fahrenheit) for a minimum of 75 minutes. Contractor shall provide a heat certificate certifying heating time and temperature with each delivery of wood cut out of Connecticut. 2. Packaging: • Firewood must be consumer packaged (bundled) using a combustible wrapping or binding material with a carrying handle affixed. Tied twine is not an acceptable bundling material. Bundled packaging must have no sharp edges which could cut or cause injury to Client Agency customers or park staff when carrying or picking up the bundled firewood. The bundled package must not have sharp metal material including staples, hog rings, or clamped heavy wire or any type of metal to make a clasping mechanism to hold the bundles together. 3. Each bundle must be approximately 1.0 cubic feet in volume. 4. Firewood must be uniformly split to provide a minimum of seven (7) pieces per bundle. 5. Firewood must be cut to approximate 15” or 16” lengths. 6. A number of “Sure-Lite” or equal fire starter sticks to the number of pieces in each bundle must be provided for each bundle of wood delivered.
