PART 1- General 1. Summary a. The Global Positioning System (GPS) Machine Control system includes materials, labor, tools, fees, charges, and documentation required to furnish, install, test and place in operation a complete and operable instrumentation, control and information system. b. The GPS Machine Control system shall include measuring elements, signal converters, transmitters, local control panels, digital hardware and software, operator interface units, signal and data transmission systems, interconnecting wiring, and pertinent accessories. c. The instrumentation and control component of the GPS Machine Control system shall be capable of simultaneously implementing all real-time control and information system functions, and servicing all operator service requests as specified, without degrading the data handling and processing capability of any system component. d. The GPS Machine Control system and equipment (excluding the Hand Held Rover Unit) is intended to be installed in landfill equipment (bull dozer, compactor) operated by Berkeley County staff. The hardware equipment shall be capable of being moved between existing equipment and moved to future new equipment. It is the intent that the hardware (antenna, computer screen mounting brackets) will be installed on two pieces of landfill equipment such that the computer screen can be moved between the two pieces of equipment. e. The GPS Machine Control System shall be coordinated and provide by one bidder/contractor/vendor. b. The bidder/contractor/vendor shall demonstrate at least five (5) years of continuous experience developing and installing a GPS Machine Control system experience developing and installing a GPS Machine Control system. c. The bidder/contractor/vendor shall provide at least five (5) references from different landfill sites within the eastern half of the United States that currently use the GPS Machine Control system.
