1. UNIT ESTIMATES: The attached Schedule A indicates the unit of measure estimates of cones per species. Potential woods-run cone collections are entirely unknown at this time so actual numbers of trees and associated cones available for collection are highly variable due to environmental conditions. The State reserves the right to cancel this contract if the FIC and Contractor determine in a pre-work meeting that the actual number of bushels are too small to provide an economically viable project for the State. 2. COLLECTION METHOD: The contractor will pick cones from previously felled trees as directed by the FIC. All trees selected by the State will be safely felled by the State prior to the Contractor collecting the cones. Any necessary limbing of felled trees, to assist in the cone collection, is the responsibility of the State but the Contractor may be required to limb some per FIC. In the case of the Paradise Valley Seed Orchard collection area, the State requires the Contractor to pick the cones from the trees with mechanical lifts. The lift must extend a minimum of 30 vertical feet and be capable of operating on uneven ground with slopes up to 10%. The goal is to minimize damage to tree crowns while harvesting cones.
