UW-Green Bay is looking for a Universal Material Testing System. This will help advance the Mechanical Engineering programs. A Universal Material Testing System (UMTS) is a basic laboratory equipment for any engineering program. This equipment is an ABET accreditation requirement for the Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology programs. UMTS is used to characterize materials at room temperature and also at elevated temperatures. Using this equipment critical mechanical properties of materials such as yield strength, elastic modulus, shear modulus, tensile strength, ductility, resilience, toughness, etc. can be determined. This equipment also provides the stress-strain curves of materials. Tension, compression, creep, and fatigue tests of metals, plastics, ceramics and composites can be done using this equipment. This equipment is necessary for teaching purposes, but can also complement research and community/industry needs.
