Solid Waste and recycling must be removed from Baker’s Island each Monday prior to 10:00 A.M., but not before 8:30 A.M., weather permitting, beginning the Monday prior to Memorial Day and ending the last Tuesday following Indigenous Peoples’ Day in October of each year of the contract. Tidal phenomena and inclement weather may impact the operation. During weather warning periods and/or astronomical tides, the contractor shall be responsible for coordinating the marine operations portion of the process with the Harbormaster Office to ensure safe suitable dockage is available. The successful contractor is required to remove household solid waste and recycling in sturdy plastic bags (recyclables will be in clear plastic bags in order to separate from trash) from the dock at Baker's Island and deposit said solid waste and recycling into the designated Dumpsters, provided by the City of Salem, located at Winter Island. The recycling must be removed from bags, and put in recycling dumpster loose, used clear plastic bags must be placed in trash dumpster. There are no City resources available to assist in this effort (staff or equipment). During a holiday week, the delivery will take place on Tuesday. This contract must be coordinated with the current solid waste vendor, Waste Management.
