Proiect Description: At a minimum, the project consists of vegetation control and maintenance along a stretch of SC- [i5 (Business 85) generatly between the intersections of I-ti5/SC-85 and SC-85/Hwy. 9. The contractor shall fumish all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to complete the maintenance and vegetation control as described herein. A total of six (6) mowing events are planned for each calendar year but may vary according to growing seasons and is generally planned to be performed between the months of April and November. Each event shall be coordinated and coincide with mowing events being perfomred by the SCDOT (or their subcontractor). Each event will include mowing a total of approximately 37.9 acres. A map of the area can be found at the below link (rnowing areas are highlighted in blue). All mowing operations shall be carried out in accordance with State law. Mowing heights shall be uniform at no less than two inches and no more than six inches. All machine mowers shall be operated in such a manner to prevent scalping, rutting, or other damage to turf. Mowers shall be equipped with shields to preclude foreign objects from being ejected from under the cutting unit housing. The removal of litter shall also be performed prior to all mowing operatrons. In addition to mowing, hand trimming should be performed around the planting beds and fencing illustrated on drawings L-t through L-10 and the letter from SCDOT dated March 5,2018 (revision to Permit Number 198779) as part of each mowing event. Herbicides, adjuvants, and blends as prescribed in the latest edition of SCDOT Herbicide Operations Manual shall also be applied in/around the planting beds and fencing at least once per year as part of the season's first mowing svent. Spot treatmenls shall be done on an as needed basis. Clean-up and maintenance ofsucker growth on Crepe Myrtles shall also be done at least once per year as part ofthe season's first mowing event.
