The successful applicant/s will demonstrate the ability to provide the following services associated with the City Animal Shelter population: i. Provide rabies vaccines to all dogs and cats that enter the shelter ii. Provide veterinary care in the form of maintaining adequate health of all shelter animals, including but not limited to performing veterinary exams on animals with medical concerns, conducting appropriate diagnostic testing to determine diagnoses, prognoses and treatment plans and following through with such plans, prescribing medications to animals when necessary, and making assessments as to whether an animal needs emergency care iii. Performing necropsies on deceased animals that are part of investigations by Animal Care and Control and/or SLMPD iv. Performing forensic exams on animals that are involved in investigations by Animal Care and Control and/or SLMPD in alignment with the Department of Health Forensic Veterinary Exam Policy v. Provide euthanasia services for shelter animals and sick or injured wildlife as applicable. vi. Provide all necessary medications and medical equipment for veterinary services vii. Assist with writing and/or editing Animal Regulations policies that involve veterinary care viii. Services will be provided at an agreed upon location, such as the city's animal shelter facility or at the contractor's preferred veterinary clinic, during regular business hours (8am-5pm)
