The University of Dakota and its associated NDUS data center is intending to upgrade the mechanical and electrical infrastructure to better accommodate an increase in server capacity on the raised floor. This work includes additional chiller modules to increase chilled water capacity for the facility. The associated dry coolers added under this contract will also be required to handle the additional heat rejection requirements. The initial chillers were installed 10 years ago and therefore requiring some modification to the existing chilled water piping to accommodate the new chiller modules. New CRAH computer room air handlers will be added to the raised floor. Existing piping and isolation valves are already in place to facilitate the connection of these new CRAH units. The electrical scope associated with the successful mechanical contractors work shall include the breakers, conduits, and conductors to facilitate providing power to the new chillers, dry coolers, and CRAH units. Bids shall include the scope of work associated with mechanical alternates M-1 and M-2 that increase the size of the chiller modules and also require the replacement of the two condenser water pumps to increase their capacity. Excavation and concrete work associated with the modification for the dry cleaner bases shall also be included under the mechanical’s prime contract.
