The work includes the opening the catch basin by removing the grate; cleaning of the debris from the catch basin by clam shell or similar equivalent performance equipment; assessment of the debris quantity and catch basin structure; replacement of the grate and marking of the structure with paint to indicate work complete; transportation of the debris from the catch basin to the Town DPW for static dewatering; collection, transport and disposal of the collected materials to a properly permitted and licensed facility. The work also includes labor, equipment and supplies to clean the catch basins, manage the collected materials, transport and dispose of the materials. All prices shall include labor, materials, equipment, supplies, overhead, and any ancillary labor and materials required to complete the work. The Work consists of the removal of debris from catch basins located throughout the Town, transportation of the collected materials, and disposal of the materials collected at a properly licensed facility. The catch basins are primarily located on Town Roads, but also include parking areas and other ways that the Town requires removal of materials. The primary contact for the project is the Department of Public Works, but the Facilities and other Town Departments may obtain services through this contract on an as-needed basis. Additional documents providing details in accordance with which the Work is to be done may be furnished by addendum from time to time during the bidding period by the Owner or its Architect/Engineer, and shall then become a part of the Contract Documents. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, services, materials, equipment, plant, machinery, apparatus, appliances, tools, supplies, and all other things necessary to do all work required for the completion of each item of the Work and as herein specified. The Work to be done and paid for under any item shall not be limited to the exact extent mentioned or described but shall include all incidental work necessary or customarily done for the completion of that item. The Contractor shall provide services on an on-call basis. Contractor shall coordinate with the Town to provide the cleaning services required. The Contractor shall commit adequate labor and equipment to conduct the annual cleaning within a three-week period. The Town typically conducts a comprehensive annual cleaning during the spring of each calendar year. A second catch basin cleaning is conducted during the fall on basins that were found to contain fifty percent or greater material during the spring annual cleaning. During past years’ approximately 700 catch basins were determined to require a second fall cleaning.
