A. Testing and Balancing of all new work shall be performed by a certified balancing contractor. If new equipment is installed and connected to existing equipment, the entire system is to be balanced. B. Energy savings opportunities shall be discussed with DGS when specifying equipment. C. General HVAC work includes but is not limited to repairing of existing systems, construction and installation of new mechanical work such as the following: 1. Selective Demolition: Demolish, remove, demount and disconnect abandoned equipment, obsolete piping, valves, fittings, insulation, pumps, motors, ductwork controls, fixtures and other miscellaneous mechanical materials and supports to be removed and not to be salvaged or saved. Protect adjacent materials indicated to remain. Install and maintain dust and noise barriers to keep dirt and dust from being transmitted to adjacent areas. Remove protection and barriers after selective demolition operations are complete. 2. When services must be interrupted, install temporary services for affected areas. Coordinate the shut-off and disconnection of utility services with the Owner and the utility company. 3. Installation of New Mechanical Work: Install new mechanical equipment and necessary accessories in accordance with manufacturer’s written instructions and in compliance with recognized industry practices to ensure that it serves the intended purpose. The entire system shall be installed by trained workmen skilled in the installation of such systems. All new mechanical installation and materials to be used must have approval of the Owner prior to installation.
