The goal of this procurement is to obtain a new LIMS Solution. The new LIMS Solution needs to maximize the efficient and effective: 1. receipt of evidence, 2. transfer of the evidence, 3. analysis of evidence, and 4. dissemination of the forensic intelligence resulting from such analysis. The new system shall have the ability to manage large electronic datasets in such a way that numerous operations within FSD can be automated and streamlined to improve workflow. The selected LIMS will play a critical role in FSD’s ability to optimize laboratory operations and to communicate the resulting forensic data to its many customers within the criminal justice system. While improved casework documentation and communications with investigators and attorneys are the most obvious benefits of a LIMS, there are currently several other areas involving the exchange of forensic intelligence that could be improved greatly. The current LIMS interacts with several State and national systems. These systems include, but are not limited to, CODIS, NIBIN, and AFIS; the Arrestee DNA Database law automated data feed; and real-time data transfer from advanced technologies (e.g. DART) in support of investigatory and public health initiatives.
