Vendor must provide their own transportation such as a van, box truck, pickup and work trailer (capable of hauling supplies, materials, tools, etc.). All transportation costs, fuels, insurances shall be included in the hourly rates bid. Billable hours under this Contract are for productive hours at the job site or time spent picking materials up for delivery to the jobsite. Workers must wear proper attire for the work being performed, including appropriate personnel protective and safety equipment, provided by the Contractor at their own expense. The Contractor must be capable of coordinating with other trades performing work on designated projects (i.e.) electricians, plumbers, carpet installers, etc. The State Highway Administration authorized representative shall inspect all work performed and be the final judge as to work being performed correctly. In the event the work performance of the Contractor is unsatisfactory; the Contractor will be notified by MDOT SHA Contract Manager. If the MDOT SHA representative deems that the contractor is unable to meet the requirements, this contract may be terminated for convenience. The carpenter/painter must be able to communicate proficiently in English, both verbally and in writing Carpentry services include, but are not limited to, demolition, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, masonry, sheetrock and taping; relocating/provide interior walls and partitions, suspended ceilings: repair/replace of moldings or trim, doors and door jambs; construct counters, bookcases etc., and coordination of this work with other trades. Painting services include, but are not limited to, interior and exterior paint work, painting of cabinets and fixtures, cleaning and sanding of minor surface issues, removal/installation of wallpaper, priming, masking, taping, etc. All painters must have a minimum of 2 years painting and coating experience. SHA reserves the right to reject any painters that are not providing satisfactory results and have the contractor send a replacement. The Contractor shall be able to start all projects within 10 working days of authorization from State Highway Administration (SHA). The Contractor shall complete each job within the time specified in the project estimate. The vendor shall supply all materials unless it is determined to be the State’s best interest to utilize existing State of Maryland commodity contracts. Examples of these supplies could be lumber, nails, drywall boards, tape, mud, screws, paint etc. If SHA determines that the contractor shall purchase any supplies needed, it will be required that the contractor submit original receipts for the supplies at a markup not to exceed 10%. The contractor has the duty to purchase any supplies for the best reasonable price available in the local market. Invoices for all materials must be supplied to SHA with the vendor’s final invoice for the job. Work under this contract may not be sub-contracted unless first approved by SHA. Bidders must submit a completed bid form and a Small Business Reserve affidavit to be considered for award. Any specialized rental equipment such as scaffolding, or man lifts shall be reimbursed on a dollar-for-dollar basis with supporting invoice from rental company.
