1. The CONTRACTOR will consult with Napa County staff to coordinate the RFA pre-approval training program and selection of the trainer in order to meet RFA -preapproval training needs. Ongoing dialogue will take place between CONTRACTOR and Napa County to modify and update training curriculum, as needed. 2. The CONTRACTOR will provide pre-approval RFA trainings to increase the ability of caregivers to provide assistance, support, and care to foster and adoptive children. Training shall be designed to: ▪ Support CWS program mandates and initiatives. ▪ Meet the training needs required to implement those initiatives. ▪ Enhance resource families’ knowledge and skills. ▪ Increase participant’s cultural awareness and responsiveness. ▪ Educate resource families on laws and regulations that affect child welfare. ▪ Emphasize trauma-informed, safety, permanency, and well-being in all training related activities. 3. The CONTRACTOR will provide training sessions, as follows: ▪ Six RFA pre-approval training cohorts per year in English. Pre- approval training in Spanish will be provided based on need. ▪ Each cohort includes 18 hours of pre-service training. Topics shall include: Child Welfare Overview, Understanding roles, Supporting Diverse Developmental Needs, Trauma informed caregiving, Separation, Loss and Grief, Positive Parenting. ▪ The first training class (Intro to Child Welfare) is conducted by County CWS Staff with CONTRACTOR staff observing at no cost. In the event County CWS staff is unable to train the first class, CONTRACTOR will train this class. ▪ The remaining trainings are conducted by a CONTRACTOR trainer, with County CWS staff attending 1-2 hours of the second training (Understanding your Role) and sixth training (Positive Parenting & Graduation). ▪ CONTRACTOR will use the County’s existing training curriculum and update as directed by County. CONTRACTOR will translate existing training curriculum from English to Spanish and update as directed by County. ▪ All food and class materials will be provided by CONTRACTOR. ▪ Training will take place at CONTRACTOR’s Napa location, or another agreed upon venue; virtual trainings can be available as needed. ▪ Make-up sessions are to be provided after approved in consultation with the Napa County RFA Supervisor. ▪ An RFP parent partner shall be included in RFP pre-service classes to answer questions and provide support in learning. 4. The CONTRACTOR shall incorporate a Resource Family Coach Coordinator, a specialized class for kin caregivers, and additional trainers or curriculum development, as requested by Napa County.
