The University of Minnesota is requesting design services to evaluate, provide design recommendations, and create construction documentation to address general deterioration and aging of various exterior enclosure components at two historic buildings (Morrill Hall and Johnston Hall). The two buildings are located on the Twin Cities East Bank / Northrop Mall area of campus. The building' parapets, flashings, balustrades, penthouse walls, shingle/built-up roofs, and sealant at Level 5 windows - are included in this evaluation. Both buildings were built in a similar era and are of a similar design. However, they are at different levels of service and repair. See the included construction documents showing previous exterior repair projects. The University is looking to receive a condition assessment, proposed repair options, and resultant documentation, as required, for each of the elements noted above and/or shown within the Attachment 1a/1b. Selected respondent will need to provide a team with expertise in both exterior enclosure architecture/engineering as well as historic preservation. The selected respondent must have familiarity working with related historic preservation organizations (i.e. SHPO).
