Phase 1: Pre-installation Phase. 4.1.1. Furnish and design new synthetic turf for Jane Sage Cowles Stadium. The Contractor shall furnish and design the new synthetic turf for the Jane Sage Cowles Stadium per requirements and specifications below. The furnishing and design phase shall include all site visits, surveys, and layout of work. All final designs must be approved by the University Authorized Representative before the installation phase. As part of your proposal, you must submit a schematic of your proposed design, specifications sheets of the turf samples you intend to use for this Project. Note that finalists may be asked to submit a turf sample of your proposed design. (See Attachment A: Project Schedule and Work Plan, Part 3). See also Exhibit 2: Cowles Softball Synthetic Turf Replacement Schematic for the current Jane Sage Cowles Stadium schematic design. 4.1.1.1 Minimum Requirements/ Specifications for the new synthetic turf. The new proposed synthetic turf must meet or exceed the following requirements and specifications: 4.1.1.1.1 The Contractor shall furnish approximately 39,000 sf of synthetic turf. 4.1.1.1.2 The current synthetic turf is AstroTurf. Jane Sage Cowles Stadium has a Duraedge Collegiate infield and has significant silt migration and drainage around the entire infield and home plate. This should be considered when specifying a turf product. 4.1.1.1.3 A 40’ x 23’ athletic “M” logo in center field. “M” should be custom colors of Gopher Athletics (or as close as possible). 4.1.1.1.4 Permanent white foul lines 4.1.1.1.5. Base coach boxes required. 4.1.1.1.6 Contractor should inspect and adjust the sub-turf base and remediate any minor grading issues since original install eight (8) years ago. 4.1.1.1.4 New turf shall have a “thatch area” and the outfield should be 2.0” with approximately 60 oz face weight. 4.1.1.1.5 The warning track areas should be 1.5” with approximately 60 oz face weight. 4.1.1.1.6 All carpets perforated. 4.1.1.1.7 Final grooming. 4.1.1.1.8 Removal and disposal of existing turf field. Contractor shall carefully and safely remove the existing turf field and properly dispose of it. Contractor shall prep the area for the appropriate installation of the turf field. 4.2 Phase 2: Installation Phase. 4.2.1. Furnish, deliver, and install new synthetic turf at the for Jane Sage Cowles Stadium per the agreed upon design, project schedule, and workplan. 4.2.1.1 Once notified that the project site is ready and available, Contractor will coordinate with their designated personnel for an effective mobilization of the Project. 4.2.1.2 Upon commencement of Work at the site, the Contractor shall assume management of the site. Sites shall be maintained in a safe and neat fashion. Site management shall be coordinated with the Contractor’s Site Supervisor. 4.2.1.3 All employees of the Contractor(s) shall conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Personnel deemed unacceptable by the University shall be replaced immediately. 4.2.1.3 The Contractor shall be responsible to protect existing structures, sidewalks, driveways, lawns and other improvements on or adjacent to the site from damage by any operation in connection with the Contract. 4.2.1.4 Contractor’s Work will not disturb the normal use or occupancy of the buildings outside of the Work area. Buildings, sidewalks, and drives shall be kept clear and free of Contractor’s equipment, material, and debris. 4.2.1.5 Removal and Cleanup. The Contractor shall keep the premises and surrounding area free from accumulation of waste materials or rubbish caused by operations under the Contract. Upon completion of the work, the Contractor shall remove and legally dispose of waste materials, rubbish, the Contractor’s tools, equipment, machinery, and surplus materials from and about the project premises and surrounding area daily.
