OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE: Perform professional tuning services for our three high-pressure boilers to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. SUPPLIES AND/OR SERVICES REQUIRED: Tune three boilers, one of which is described below. All three boilers are the same size. Manufacturer: The Babcock and Wilcox Company Contract: FM-1989 Capacity: 80,000 lb/hr Design Pressure: 250 PSI Steam Temperature: 406 F Boiler Heat Surface Area: 5,863 sq ft Year Built: 1971 National Board Number: 23443 Additional information: Operating pressure is 80 psi. Dixon CC normally funs in a lead/lag configuration with a third on standby. The water level sometimes swings during the higher steam output months. Current controls are Siemens 353 series and Moore micro 352 operating the gas valve and water level with a plant master controlling the header pressure setpoint. Dixon CC has a Chessell six-channel recorder reading the O2 trim, gas flow, stack temperature, steam flow, and efficiency however 2 of the 3 are no longer in service. The gas valve, draft fan dampers, burner ring dampers and pneumatic controller are connected to single jack shaft. The boilers have Rosemount transmitters for the steam flow, gas flow and water level, which may need to be calibrated. Note: The Powerhouse has no way to vent the excess steam so the boilers cannot be run up to max and back down. The Powerhouse does not ever have a steam demand that maxes out any one single boiler.
