All Granular Quicklime shall be commercial, high quality quicklime, freshly burned and suitable for water treatment in a domestic water supply. The delivered product shall conform to all American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standards as set forth in AWWA B202-13 or latest version. The product shall be certified to meet the NSF/ANSI Std. 60, AWWA as a drinking water additive. The delivered product shall be free of all foreign materials, taste or odor-producing impurities, core or unburned limestone, over-burned or insoluble lime, or re-carbonated and hydrated lime, and shall contain not less than 90 percent water-soluble calcium oxide. Residue remaining after slaking shall not adversely affect slurry pumps by either abrasion or clogging. In the event the average percentage of water-soluble calcium oxide is below 90 percent for several shipments, the City reserves the right to cancel the Contract with the awarded bidder. If any load of Granular Quicklime is delivered and contains less than 85 percent of water-soluble calcium oxide, the Water Division will reject the load and delivery, and the Contractor will be required to remove it at the Contractor’s expense.
