Scope of Services 2025 The City of Methuen Department of Public Works, Water Distribution Division seeks bids from qualified leak detection consultants to perform a comprehensive “leak correlation survey” on all of the City’s water mains including, public schools and some private water main where it would benefit the city to stop water loss.. Presently the City of Methuen has approximately 200 miles of public water main. This may include some private water mains where it would benefit the city to isolate water loss. The leak detection survey must be completed within (120) one hundred twenty calendar days from the start of the survey. The bid proposal shall address the following parameters: 1. Use of sound intensifying equipment capable of detecting small amounts of leakage (i.e., 1-5 GPM) 2. Correlating accelerometers shall be placed directly on every hydrant, selected main line valves or selected sidewalk service connections to perform a correlation between them to determine if there is an unknown leak between the points of contact. The maximum distance between these initial listening points shall not exceed 700 feet. The consultant shall then select if needed additional main line valves, hydrant valves, service connections or hydrant ports to accurately pinpoint the leak location of every found leak. 3. The consultant will provide what type of equipment the contractor is using along with a copy of the correlation software for the city to use 4. The consultant will have a minimum of 5 years performing leak correlation surveys full time. 5. Every correlation performed must be saved in order for the City to be able to review the data at a later time. 6. All leak site pinpointing shall be performed using a correlation utilizing 2 or more sensors and verified with a sonic ground sounding technique. 7. The leak shall be classified as to estimated water loss and severity. A leakage site report shall be prepared for each suspected point of leakage. The report shall include a copy of the leak detection correlation graph. 8. The consultant’s vehicles shall be labeled with company name and or emblem, amber safety lights on vehicles and any safety signage needed when working in high traffic areas.
