The MNPS Human Resources Division is responsible for conducting investigations involving a variety of employee complaints. In most instances the investigations will be handled by a member of the HR Employee Relations team. However, there are instances where it is more appropriate to have an impartial external (to MNPS) entity conduct an investigation to negate any appearance of bias. Such situations resulting in the use of an outside investigator may include, but are not limited to, a complaint being made which involves any of the following: * A vendor * Senior HR Staff Member * A Chief * The Director of Schools * A Board Member or other situations where, in the discretion of MNPS, an outside investigation is required. The Human Resources Division seeks to secure the services of an attorney or firm(s) to conduct such investigations (including at a minimum a review of the complaint and all relevant documents or artifacts; and interviews with the complainant, witnesses, and the accused), prepare a summary of the investigation which includes a finding/conclusion and submit the results to Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) or the Director of Schools designee (if the complaint is against the CHRO).
