Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Contact listening on all fire hydrants, mainline valves, service valves, and meter setters. Ground microphones should be used where valve spacing exceeds the range of the direct contact device. Correlators and hydrophones should be used were practical. • Maintain a log of all suspected leaks. • Conduct a second verification of all suspected leaks. The use of pipe locators and correlators should be used to determine location of leak. Hydrophones should be used on all plastic pipes, where practical. • Document all leak locations with diagrams with GPS coordinates, along with all related data used to pinpoint the leak. Field marking with paint and or flags is required. Pictures of each location will need to be submitted along with the location diagrams.
