This scope of work is for $111,500 worth of large, 2-4 ft, hard rock boulders. These boulders will be used to complete stream restoration on the Strawberry River in the summer and fall of 2025. Wildfires and flooding in the Strawberry River channel have resulted in significantly degraded habitat and stream encroachment on man-made structures and roads. Large boulders sourced from locations that hold hard rock are essential for creating riprap and stream structure that is capable of withstanding high amounts of flow and water-based erosion. A variety of size of rocks, from 2-4 ft, are necessary to correctly fill gaps for structural support, and to provide habitat for fish, invertebrates, and vegetation. Implementation of these boulders will help restore this ecosystem, resulting in a healthy fishery, as well as create safe conditions for people using the area.
