Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Section of Laboratories is looking for vendors with: • Demonstrated experience in handling medical claims with accuracy, efficiency, and integrity. This requires the ability to meticulously review medical claims to identify discrepancies awhile maintaining data integrity and patient confidentiality. Processes must demonstrate efficient workflows and acceptable time management. Interested parties must have experience working with various medical payers (ex. private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid) and also provide a model for sliding scale practices for uninsured or underinsured patients. • Expertise in and compliance with all relevant regulations, including HIPAA, ACA, and other healthcare-specific laws. A strong understanding of medical coding and billing practices, as well as payer policies, must be evident. • Clear communication practices. Being able to communicate effectively with the public health laboratory and other clients, resolving billing issues professionally, and providing excellent customer service is required to build strong relationships. The cost to our organization for a defined service must be clearly communicated.
