1. GENERAL INSPECTION A. Contractor will inspect all locations in this scope of work per occurrence. B. Contractor will immediately notify City of unsafe or undesirable conditions including, without limitation: graffiti, vandalism, and trash dumping. C. Contractor will evaluate each site per agreed schedule and perform, as needed, the maintenance tasks below and as specified in subsequent sections: i. Litter removal ii. Mowing iii. Line trimming iv. Edging v. Weeding 2. MOWING – 25 occurrences (estimated) A. Contractor will prioritize public safety. i. Contractor will never mow over debris or rocks ii. Contractor will maintain a safe distance from pedestrians, bicyclists, trees, wildlife, and/or any other City of Evanston assets. iii. Contractor will maintain all mower safety equipment such as shields, guards, deflectors, and sharpened blades. B. Mowing will be from approximately April 15 through approximately November 15. i. In spring, mowing will occur weekly. ii. From July through November, mowing will occur every 10 days. iii. The City may adjust the schedule as weather conditions require and reserves the right to change the mowing schedule as needed. C. Contractor must maintain grass to a height of 3.5”. i. During hot, dry weather, the City may request a height of 4”. ii. The final mowing of the season will be to a height of 2.5-3”. D. The City of Evanston reserves the right to cancel or delay mowing due to weather conditions or turf dormancy caused by heat and/or drought. E. Contractor will not remove more than 1/3 of total leaf blade at any time. F. Contractor will alternate mowing direction every one to two mowing occurrences, and at a right angle (90 degrees) of the previous direction whenever possible. G. Contractor will report the emergence of weeds to City’s project manager. H. This contract does not include any turf fertilization. Weed control is limited to playground areas for this contract, as specified in a subsequent section. I. Contractor will not mow when grass is wet or there is frost on the ground. J. Contractor will mulch grass clippings and leave them on site. i. Contractor will rake & spread out, or bag, any large grass clumps.
