The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) has received Federal Grant funding for the purpose of conducting weed treatment activities within the Humboldt Watershed, with an emphasis on invasive annual grasses and noxious weeds including medusahead, ventanata, or other priority species as determined by the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW). NDOW is seeking assistance for weed infestation treatments on private lands in the Humboldt Watershed. The Humboldt River Watershed provides critical habitat for numerous wildlife species including Lahontan Cutthroat Trout, warm water game and nongame fish, waterfowl, mule deer, antelope, sage-grouse, and hundreds of species of nongame birds and mammals. Weed infestations have put this vitally productive system at risk. Controlling weed infestations and conducting rehabilitation of previously infested areas will result in healthy wildlife habitat, stabilized riparian conditions, and improved water quality and quantity. Restoring and maintaining the Humboldt River is vital for preserving water quality throughout the watershed.
