The work covered under this solicitation shall consist of the labor, equipment, materials, tools, transportation, and incidentals necessary for herbicide application to control invasive plants on state forest roads in the Littlefork area in Koochiching County. The proposed total area requiring treatment is approximately 61.2 miles of forest roads covering approximately 203.5 acres and a gravel pit that is approximately 3 acres in size. Treatments vary in scope depending on stem density and infestation across the work area. Highway vehicle access roads: these roads are to have the first 12 feet from each shoulder of the roadbed treated (24 feet Total). Main invasive species are wild parsnip, spotted knapweed, and common tansy. Off Highway Vehicle Access Roads: these roads are unable to support the weight of a highway vehicle during the time of this contract. A side by side or similar low ground impact vehicle is required. Treatment on the following roads will consist of treating the 16ft roadbed and 12 feet from each shoulder for a total treatment of 40ft. Main invasive species are wild parsnip, spotted knapweed, and common tansy. Pine Island Gravel Pit: site is uneven terrain and has a large pile of gravel that will need to be sprayed. Complete coverage of the piles is required. Main invasive species in the pit is spotted knapweed.
