These projects will relocate approximately 1.4 miles of existing overhead distribution and subtransmission circuits underground, extending from the north side of East Northern Lights Boulevard to the north side of Brighton Park. This work is being conducted in compliance with undergrounding requirements within the Anchorage Bowl. The scope of the projects includes the removal of poles, circuit conductors, and overhead line equipment along a busy commercial and residential corridor. This will increase feeder transfer capacity. The existing 4/0 ACSR overhead distribution lines will be replaced with new underground 750 kcmil cable installed in conduit, with below-ground splicing vaults and pads. Additionally, the current 266.8 ACSR overhead transmission lines will be replaced with underground 1000 kcmil cable, also housed in conduit with below-ground splicing vaults.
