2.1 Contractor will pump out remaining water (appears to be primarily rainwater) from the existing structures for offsite disposal to a treatment facility that can accept wastewater (see approved waste profile as attachment to this plan). 2.2 Once the wastewater systems structures are dewatered, contractor will remove and disposed of biosolids/sludge to offsite disposal to a treatment facility that can accept the sludge. 2.3 Contractor will install erosion and sediment control devices (e.g., silt fence barrier) in advance of demolition of aboveground portions of the WWTP. 2.4 Contractor shall close/cap off the influent pipe from the former Ruffin Middle School at a point prior to entering the first basin from Ruffin Middle School that formerly conveyed domestic wastewater to the WWTP (see Figures). 2.5 Contractor will remove any above ground structures, piping, and controls. The contractor will then demolish the aboveground portions of the system and dispose of demolished materials via an appropriate landfill that can accept construction/demolition/debris (CDD) materials. 2.6 Contractor shall punch hole into the in-ground structures prior to filling the structures, in order to prevent ponding. Contractor shall then fill the in-ground portions of the wastewater system with clean soil or clean backfill (i.e., basins, pump station, etc.). 2.7 Contractor shall install permanent stabilization measures (i.e., permanent seeding) for earth disturbance areas. 2.8 Upon completion of the field activities for closure, Contractor shall work with CCSD to request site inspection for closeout verification to the responsible official located at South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (Beaufort Region 8), to verify final inspection to check that closure work is complete. 2.9 Contractor will provide final closure plan completion documentation to South Carolina Department of Environmental Services as necessary (which may include manifests for offsite disposal of wastewater and sludge).
