The purpose of this request for proposal (RFP) is to select a solution and partner with a vendor to improve the Port’s avian (bird) threat detection and alerting capabilities to avert or mitigate bird-strike events at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) by providing more accurate and timely information to responding personnel. 1.2. The vendor will implement an ATAS solution that meets or exceeds the business requirements outlined in this RFP for up to 10 years and set a foundation for potential future expansion of capabilities which are out of scope of this RFP. 1.3. This project will replace the existing avian detection system which only uses radar and associated software for this purpose. 1.4. It is important to understand that radar is just one type of sensor that can be used for detecting avian threats. Consequently, the preferred Avian Threat Assessment System (ATAS) solution is intended to be a suite of updated hardware and software systems to improve upon current avian threat detection and hazard alerting capabilities, but at a minimum replace what SEA currently uses.
