This scope includes subgrade preparation, placement and compaction of flexible base material, final grading to established elevations, and all associated labor, equipment, and water. The flexible base material and hauling to the site are not included and will be handled by others. All density testing will be performed by a third-party agency designated by the owner or client. Subgrade Preparation • Subgrade will be compacted to a minimum of 90% Standard Proctor Density. • Contractor will proof-roll the subgrade and address any soft or unsuitable areas prior to base placement. Flexible Base Placement and Compaction • Base material (Grade 3 or 4) will be placed in maximum 8-inch loose lifts. • Each lift will be compacted to a minimum of 95% Standard Proctor Density. • Contractor will apply water as needed to achieve proper compaction. Testing and Coordination • All compaction testing will be performed by others. • Contractor will coordinate with the testing agency to ensure timely testing after each lift. • Any areas failing compaction tests will be reworked and retested at no extra cost to the owner. Final Grading • Final grading of the base surface will be performed using a laser level, in accordance with provided benchmarks and specified elevations. • Finished pad will be smooth and to tolerance for acceptance or follow-up work.
