Facilitate an on-site in person debrief no later than three (3) days after the critical incident. “Critical Incident” defined as any traumatic incident or perception of a life-threating event that transpires within the context of first responder work which has sufficient power to overwhelm an individual's or unit’s ability to cope. Such occurrences are not defined by the incident itself; but rather by the involved individuals and/or Fire leadership’s reaction to what occurred. Examples may include, but are not limited to, May Day incidents, victim deaths on a response call, loss of a co-worker, or traumatic vehicle accidents. Provide on-site in person training to Peer Support Team members and conduct quarterly in-service training to personnel. Develop and deliver at least one (1) on-site in person department wellness trainings per year. “Department wellness trainings” defined as the communication of preventative mental health training of varying topics that impact Fire Department employees, such as, but not limited to, examples like cumulative trauma prevention, substance use disorders, conflict to collaboration, or managing personal relationships within and outside of the station. Provide in person or virtual consultation to members of the Peer Support Team and members of the department executive leadership team on trauma or employee wellness-related matters. Provide priority on-site in-person, confidential mental health therapy services for Fire employees when requested.
