I. Requirements A. Definitions 1. Refuse and Trash are defined and considered to be any debris/garbage placed into the trash container(s). 2. Construction & Warehouse Debris are defined as any items originating from construction, demolition, or warehouse operations that are placed into the container(s). This may include but not be limited to: pallet components, packaging materials, scrap metals, scrap lumber, refuse and trash, etc. 3. Recyclables are defined as any recyclable, non-hazardous items placed into the recycling collection container. Examples are, but not limited to: corrugated cardboard, aluminum cans, plastic beverage bottles, etc. II. Refuse Collection A. The contractor will be responsible for the removal and disposal of the contents from each supplied container, at the scheduled frequency, per location. B. Each container shall be emptied and returned to its position of origin. C. Debris that is spilled during collection shall be swept up and removed during the immediate collection event. III. All refuse/trash/debris/recyclables shall be removed and disposed of away from the SCDPS location. 2. Disposal shall be accomplished to applicable state, county and local codes and regulations. F. Equipment 1. Containers, also known as dumpsters, shall have steel bodies specifically designed for the type of service involving the collection and disposal of refuse/trash. 2. The agreed upon containers shall be provided by the contractor. 3. The containers shall be properly maintained so that doors (if applicable) and lids function properly. 4. The containers shall be properly maintained to present a professional and kept appearance. 5. All containers used in furnishing service under this contract shall be cleaned and sprayed with insecticide periodically and at such frequency as is required to maintain them in a sanitary condition, to eliminate unsightly outward appearance, breeding of vermin, insects, and objectionable odors. Special attention in cleaning and disinfecting containers will be subject to approval of SC Dept. of Health and Environmental Control and the using agency. Exterior containers shall be painted and the painted surface kept up so that a presentable appearance is maintained. If it becomes necessary, the contractor will be required to take a container (s) off site to be cleaned and disinfected.
