Disposable Air Filters shall be of the extended surface, pleated panel type. The filter element shall be constructed by enclosing the filter media in a two-piece, die cut, heavy-duty chipboard with a moisture resistant additive. They should have diagonal support members, which are an integral part of the frame. Each such member and all inside surfaces shall be bonded to the media pack to insure proper pleat spacing and retention, and to eliminate all possibility of air bypass through the filter. When assembled, the two mating sections of the frame shall overlap one another to provide a double thick wall on all four sides. Filters that are not bonded (or glued) on all interior frame surfaces are not acceptable. Filter media shall be produced from non-woven cotton or cotton/polyester fibers and reinforced with expanded metal, and treated with a fire-retardant additive rated at Class II for flammability under UL Standard 900. The filter media shall be rated at MERV 8 or better when tested in accordance with ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers) test method 52.2. An independent testing laboratory report shall be furnished to confirm performance. The arrestance should be at least 90% based on size 24 x 24 x 2, the minimum dust holding capacity per filter should be 175 grams when tested to a final resistance of 1.01, W.G. (water gauge) at 2,000 CFM. For size 24 x 24 x 2, the filter should meet the following minimum performance characteristics: 1. Cross Media Area 17.3 SQ FT 2. Pleats per Linear Foot: 15
