DISTRICT BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The North Kingstown School Department (NKSD) is requesting proposals for educational consult groups to coordinate Vision of the Graduate work in the District.
The design and implementation of the Vision of the Graduate is foundational work that will guide the leadership focus, professional development, decision-making, and resource allocation of our district for the foreseeable future. This vision will be developed comprehensively, with the input from a diverse, district-wide representation of stakeholders, including school and district administrators, teachers, support professionals, families and students. There is a wealth of research that supports the importance of developing a shared vision that is established with the input of all stakeholders, reflective of current best practices, shared across the district, and communicated broadly. Districts that establish such a vision are more likely to see gains in student achievement, efficiency in use of resources, and healthy school environments where students feel belonging, connection, and meaning in what they do. As part of this work, our district will identify clear essential skills that all students will demonstrate before leaving high school. These skills will be undergirded by the latest research that specifies the necessary skills that young people must possess in order to thrive in the modern world. In addition, we will work to identify the learning progressions and performance tasks that will exist for all students at all grade levels, beginning in kindergarten.
This RFP is looking for highly qualified providers/agencies to provide the following:
- Provide facilitation and coaching of all team meetings with district stakeholders
- Planning and consultation with district and building level administrators
- Knowledge of the process needed to design and implement an effective Vision of the Graduate
- Identify current strengths and areas of need in our district
- Provide follow-up support for district team
DISTRICT DESIRED OUTCOMES FOR VISION OF THE GRADUATE CONSULTATION:
- To establish a Vision of the Graduate that clearly identifies the essential knowledge and skills that all students must achieve in order to succeed following graduation.
- For the Vision of the Graduate to reflect the core essential skills that are most likely to lead to success after high school, as based on relevant research and college and career needs.
- That the process in developing the Vision of the Graduate is fully inclusive of a range of voices and perspectives, and that decisions are reached through an equity lens.
- That the work to establish the Vision includes a comprehensive review of relevant district data.
- That the work leading to the Vision incorporates both the strengths and challenges in our district.
- To ensure that the process used to establish the Vision is fully inclusive of all representative stakeholder groups in grades k-12.
